Hidden Fees at Proflowers

I just submitted my online order with proflowers.com and I was unpleasantly surprised. I had seen a special on Mother's Day flowers for $19.99 - quite a deal, right? So I went ahead with it. Throughout the checkout process I am seeing that shipping is $5, and a personalized greeting card is an additional $3...I raised an eyebrow but kept going. I keep clicking through the stages, expecting to eventually be shown a summary of my order before I submit...then suddenly I enter my billing information, click continue and 'Thank you! Your order has been confirmed' 'What order?' I have to wonder. It turned out I was being charged two shipping fees - one 'standard' ($13) and one 'guaranteed' ($5) - as well as a $3 fee for "Care & Handling." This is in addition to the card fee, and all applicable taxes. My total order came to over $48. (Another reviewer made a great point about the redundancy of a 'Care & Handling' fee. Doesn't care and handling essentially mean the packers and delivery people doing their jobs responsibly? Why should there be a fee attached to that? When I go to McDonald's do I have to pay additional fees to keep my server from dropping my fries on the floor? The whole idea is strange.) I got a customer service rep on the phone within seconds of reaching the Thank You page. I asked the operator to cancel my order so I could start over but she said it wasn't possible, and that my order was already processed (I had just clicked 'okay' 45 seconds earlier!). When I tried again in a few minutes, another operator managed to refund the bogus $5 shipping fee, but clearly she was at a call center overseas, and not directly associated with the company, and so there was only so much she could do. I want to make it clear that I have no problem spending $50 on my mother...I am happy to do it. It's the idea of spending $20 on my mother, then handing over $30 to some other company in the form of hidden fees, that bothered me. For 50 dollars, I could have gone to a brick and mortar store and gotten something really GREAT for my mom. Also, I am convinced that the itemized charges weren't shown to me until after I checked out, and without that confirmation screen, you might not even know you're submitting an order at all until it is too late and you have clicked 'continue' one too many times. In the future I will take great caution in dealing with this company. I should have trusted my gut instinct that something was off when I started checking out. I get the feeling this company knows what it's doing with its subversive price advertising and its dodgy checkout process. It is almost as though I wasn't supposed to know how much I was being charged until it was too late to make changes...conveniently enough for them. In the meantime I am just hoping the flowers reach my mother on time, and that they are pretty. Although after reading the reviews here regarding the quality of Proflower's arragements, that might be too much to ask as well! We will see.

I'm glad I seen this. I was going to order them.

I'm like you those hidden fees are getting out of control. Just add it to the price and remove the word FEE. I will just go out and get her some myself.

At least I know what I will get. Best of luck getting them to her.

ProFlowers in Gurnee, Illinois - Terrible customer service

Ordered flowers at 10:15am for someone's birthday the following day (Sunday) paid extra to get the flowers delivered on a sunday by 1pm. got a confirmation email that everything was set. 11:00 on Sunday recieved an email that they could not honor the delivery because "the florist in the area was not open". No time to get another gift.. what a joke. Called care to get refund. told it takes up to 5 days, still waiting to recieve the refund. How can a company advertise that they have delivery and not be able to find a florist. use at your own risk.. pro flowers is horrible

Is it better to not receive flowers or to receive dead flowers for Valentines? I would have to say I would rather not send my girlfriend flowers than give her dead ones! I was appalled today when my girlfriend sent me a text to indicate she received her flowers and...

I tried to order flowers for a sunday delivery ($120 worth). I paid all the extra surcharges to make sure they were there in the morning and would be something to make her day (she's only on site for 3 days) the delivery was to be before 12:00 noon on sunday. At 10:30am sunday they sent me an e-mail messages (which i didn't get until the evening) that they couldn't deliver the flowers that day and please pick another day.

This was after going through them in detail and confirming they could make the delivery. I was prommised that they would be delivered 1st thing monday morning, then when they weren't their by noon that they would be there in the next hour, then when they still weren't there that they would be there as soon as possible.

Even though their mail message indicate one Doug Chaplin is the head of customer service nobody seems to know who he is or how to reach him. Very convenient.

If you need flowers on a given day this organization is a SCAM with continuous bait and switch tactics.

I would recommend that no-one orders from them again.

ProFlowers misses Mother's Day

Don't use Proflowers unless you want to risk ruining a holiday or sentimental Day. They missed my Mother's Day delivery and had me online FOREVER to miss my Mother's Day. The best they could do was offer to deliver it again days later at the same full price. After I complained that days later would not be good enough, the customer service finally said they would knock off the shipping... and that was only after a huge complaint. I asked for a refund. I couldn't even expect that to be handled quickly and called my bank instead. Go with someone else if you want them to actually care about getting your flowers there in time. They certainly didn't care that an 80 year old waited all day for them.

Proflowers - Beware of Hidden Charges and spotty customer service

I order 3 items to be delivered to my mother and sisters, who will be together on mother's day. My order cost increased 50% with the standard delivery and the guarantee delivery charges even though I chose all flexible delivery dates. Also know that there is a shipping and care charge. I had to speak with two different customer service reps. One who told me that "promo codes" could be there when you start your order and disappear before you complete your order. "It just happens, that way" was the comment. I also asked to speak with a supervisor, to voice my dissatisfication, to be told that they are pretty busy and you will have to wait 5-10 minutes. I said fine, I really want to speak with some and was told that everyone was busy. I would not recommend PROFLOWERS to anyone.

ProFlowers in Indialantic, Florida - More Rush

That's a terrible answer. I'm sorry, but you cannot simply walk away from Limbaugh's disgraceful behavior by saying it is not your corporate opinion. You are giving him dollars that enable him to spew hatred. No amount of delight over your flowers can offset that. My wife, President of her garden club, would be furious if I sent her a gift from your company. ALL FUTURE FLOWER PURCHASES ARE CANCELLED!

"***" was the proper word to use versus *** to make Ruhs analogy parallel to what he said. a 30 yr old, regardless of student status should be mature enough to manage their sexual alledged picadilo cost(s).

Again why should insurance take on that non existent risk?

Why force an institution to do something against their stated morals?

Why enforce an individuals morals?

Fluke was a plant - no doubt by the Dems who walked out of last weeks meeting

ProFlowers in San Diego, California - Did NOT Deliver Flowers to Family Member of Deceased

I don't think I have ever written a bad review before, but ProFlowers/Florist Express is the ABSOLUTE WORST FLOWER SERVICE...EVER!!!!!! DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY!!! NOT ONLY DO THEY MESS UP YOUR ORDER, NOT DELIVER IT, CHARGE YOU INCORRECTLY ETC ETC, BUT THEY ALSO HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVIC & DON'T REALLY CARE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAYE!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED!! ProFlowers via FloristExpress did not deliver flowers on time for a funeral, said they didn't have any in stock when someone passed away and I paid extra for same day service, & they did not reimburse me even thought they said they would! Absolutely unacceptable! Warn your family & friends to not get duped...

Just a warning out there to others that may try to order this way. Most funeral homes will not display boxes from proflowers, and most directors will not arrange the flowers to put out for the family.

After the service the box of flowers will be given to the family. Remember flowers need water so if they were delivered to the funeral home a few days before the service they will sit in the back until after the service.

The best thing to do is order direct from a florist in the area you are needing the flowers for. Even if you pay a little more then what you would through proflowers you have a much better chance in getting what you want, when you need it.
